Sprints data plans are much better. And the F&CA option is amazing.

But when it comes to handsets, its a no-brainer -- Cingular all the way. FWIW, Cingular is spending $10million on towers here in Omaha this summer. Woohoo!

This is something that just doesnt make sense to me. Every time we discuss the pros and cons or Cingular someone pull this statement, or something like it, out of their @ss- "Cingular has better handsets".

Are these handsets invisible to me because i am not open to the idea of switching to another carrier? I just checked out Cingular's website just to make sure and Im sorry but I wouldnt consider the selection worthy of such bold statements. The SE 710 is a nice phone, Ill give them that but thats about it.

Now I know your going to say "...but what about the Raz.."

Please stop. I havent met a single person who has USED the phone to say many positive things about it.

Now Im not saying their phones suck, we're not talking T-Mobile here. Im just not understanding how someone could feel Cingular's phones are so much better.

I've used the Raz, and love it.

Now, Advantages to Cingular:
+ Larger network if you've got a quad-band phone that supports the mishmash of Cingular Frequencies
+ GSM (Sim Card, etc.)
+ Great phone selection
+ Availability of Series 60 phones (a MAJOR plus.)

Advantages for Sprint
+ FAR better integration of data services:
- Picture Mail
- Vision Portal is best of any carrier
- Video Mail very well done

+ Better pricing for data, especially for heavy use (Vision vs. MEdia)
+ Unlimited option for services such as SMS, Picture Mail, Video Mail, Vision, etc.
+ Online Photo album
+ Tighter integration with phones (Picture Mail, MultiMedia)
+ Multimedia
+ Better online account management
+ Ground-Up Network as opposed to a VERY patchwork network (This is a major problem with Cingular, and can lead to quirks and hiccups)
+ Ready Link (if you use it)

---
Final Commentary: If someone claims an advantage to Cingular is that they can buy any GSM phone and pop in a SIM card (especially those not available in the US, such as a Nokia 7710) , they're half-right. Because Cingular runs on the oddball 850mhz spectrum in many locations, coverage is limited, and they'll notice much inferior coverage to Sprint- they're essentially AT&T Wireless customers, and even then it's questionable.

Don't forget voice quality. I've found Sprint and Verizon both have better voice quality than Cingular.

yes I have friends who use cingular and they break up all the time.. It pisses me off how someone can live with that.. Sure Cingular has got rollove but their coverage is nothing compared to Sprint or Verizon 1 bar with either of these carriers and it would sound as clear as it would be with full bar. I doubt people with Cingular or T-Mobile can say that..

T mobile= for kids and young teens

Sprint and Verizon= for the classy, sophisticated adult.

Nextel=for construction workers

Cingular=for people who aren't smart enough to know that they suck.

Yup...that poster hasn't met many of Sprint's customers...

I will say this, those customers are better to work with than Cracfone customers...

Well, I guess I ported out of the "classy and sophisticated" adult scene and into the "kids and young teens" group. The thing is, for me.... hanging around all these kids has suddenly allowed me to be able to make and place calls from home and other areas, whereas when I was sipping champagne and schmoozing with those cool, classy adults I was unable to. YMMV.

Hmm.
