Keeping # on different plan, Google Voice ?
I could use some advice.
I have an old SERO plan that I want to keep. (Call it 263 line) I have another sprint line that I have had the # to for the last 15 years..(777) I want to cancel the 2nd line 777 and put the # on my SERO line 263 I don't care about keeping 263 #. (My 777 line is under contract so I am paying early termination fee if it matters) Sprint won't change #s to different plans. Is this the case? or is their a way to do this? Maybe another customer support #? If I can do it through sprint what about porting my 777# I want to keep to Google Voice. I already use this for and like it. Probably could set up call forwarding from 263 to my 777, correct? And I could send and receive texts ( tho no mms) But what about outgoing calls? Using google voice on my 263 #, can I make it show from my 777 #? Thanks in advance Sorry for long postgoogle voice, forwarding, sero |

Sprint will not let you port another Sprint number to SERO.
You can port your 777 to Google Voice for $20 administration fee (to Google). You cannot set up call forwarding from 263 to 777. You can forward all voicemails, but not all calls. Once you port 777 to Google Voice, integrate your GV with 263 using Option 2 (see GV site). This will effectively convert your 263 to 777 (although in the background, 263 will still exist). EDIT: Actually, you could forward all calls from 263 to 777, but it costs $$ Last edited by jigwashere; 05-08-2012 at 10:42 AM. |

You can also port your 777 number to PagePlus for free (must have another phone's ESN to register) then port that number back to your 263 line a few days later. Pager Plus will give you $2 credit on the account which will keep it open. I don't think you need to actually use the phone on PagePlus, but you must have an ESN to give them (old Sprint or Verizon phone will do).

Actually, porting the number (Sprint->PagePlus) should automatically cancel the Sprint line and invoke the ETF, if one is warranted. I think you will find the has been already cancelled, but best to check. After that is done wait a bit before porting the number back to Sprint on the second line. The number still stays in the system for a while, maybe a full billing cycle. When I ported my number back a day later, it caused the Sprint CS rep a bit of confusion, so you may need to explain that the number used to be with Sprint. I would not volunteer the information how long ago it was ported out. I ported to a different Sprint account, so your experience may be different. If they will not port it back to line 2 right away, just wait a month. You can probably set up call forwarding from PagePlus to Sprint Line 2 until you can complete the port back to Sprint, but thay may incurr some PagePlus minutes. I did not need to do that.
