You really can't say that you're a "coffee lover" if you use one of those. Burr grinder + French press all the way baby! And of course good beans, not some mystery liquid whatevethinggiethatsbeensittingontheshelfformonths .

I don't think there is a set standard of what you can use or not use to be considered a coffee lover. because you like using a manual method doesn't make you any more of a coffee lover than someone else who doesn't..
For the record, I settled on a Technivorm Moccamaster Sent from my 64gig iPhone 4S using SU Forum

Coffee beans can last years, but once roasted, they start degenerating fast just like anything else that is cooked. Even in airtight container, they start losing flavor, oil comes out to the surface and start going stale, etc. Once ground, there's a whole lot more surface area so the rate of degeneration is exponential. So the ideal thing to do is buy fresh beans from your local roaster or cafe every week or two and only grind them right before brewing. The coffee in pods are grounded before they even go in the pods, often with preservatives, often with flavoring agents, and who knows how long they've been sitting in the warehouse or stores? By the way, the real coffee machine you settled on looks very respectable and now I want one too. |
