Life After Death
... no, I'm not talking the Biggie album, I'm talking about your cell phone. More specifically, your old smartphones - What do you do with your old smartphone once you upgrade (or swap it)?
For the smartphones that are capable of connecting to a wi-fi hotspot, have you tried to continue to use the old phone just on a wi-fi connection? You won't be able to use the Sprint Network once you have a new phone associated with your account, but that shouldn't hinger the hardware's ability to connect by other means. Sure, I bet the Sprint Apps and phone may not work, but any other application should work (web browsing, 3rd party apps). I wonder if I am right in this thinking. Has you tried this? |

Yes, quite a few people do this. Just put the phone in airplane mode and then turn the wifi on. Can still play games and run apps using wifi data only. Some people use them as media players, kind of like an iPod touch.

Me too. I usually sell mine either on swappa.com or eBay. Use the proceeds to help recoup the cost of a new phone and accessories. Still a good idea to use the old phone for a media device or web surfing.

@KB112
...thanks for the confirmation. It made sense to me that this would work. Call me crazy, but there are just some apps, I don't want to part with just yet. |

I had an old Sanyo phone that I refused to get rid of because of some games that I had on it. It was a great phone! I still have it laying around somewhere.
As for the other phones: I usually pass them on to family members or friends. I tried to sell a Samsung Instinct, but the couple that bought it drove 100 miles. I felt guilty, so I ended up just giving it to them.

Are you flipping serious? Even with you giving it to them free, they still lost money. Lol
