Which I assume will happen at some point in the future. I'm going for it.

Actually, what am I saying, I'm just going to root, that allows me to rollback to 1.5 and then flash the official 2.1 if I want. Wish me luck.

So, if this is the official update, why hasn't Sprint released it, officially yet?

My main concern is IF I do update with this and the final is different, will I be able to then update to that?

This is the reason I made the split decision to root the phone and install a custom ROM now. It retains the original bootloader so that I can flash to the official release. If what I'm reading is correct, however, I won't really need to since all of those features are in the custom ROMs anyway.

I updated the rom to the 2.1 leak and I like it. I'm not having any of the lag that some others are having. My battery lasts longer and my phone seems to have a slight boost.

The ONLY issue I have is that it sync'd my facebook & twitter contacts w/ my phone book. Now I have a bunch of extra (AND UNWANTED) contacts in my phonebook. I don't know how to get rid of them. It's not a major issue, but it is a minor annoyance.

Perhaps needed to stagger this and the Moment update, for the server hit.

I'm in love with my phone again!!!!!

I have a house full of Macs, so I had to do the update a work on a ancient XP box at work. I had to download and install the most current HTC Sync to get the drivers for the phone. When I first ran the installer it would not recognize the phone through usb. But after all of that it WOW. Dialer is no longer slow. Google nav is awesome. Voice dialer finally works. The details on the UI are all great. I can have 2 gmail accounts with easier access. Wi-Fi seems better. The music player does not stutter. I also had to update google maps. Then when I ran Google nav, I had to download a speech plug in. I will report back in a few days.

Any comment on the Picasa integration?

One of my favorite changes w/ the new rom is enhanced YouTube playback. The vid quality no longer sucks!

Just did the install/update, and wow, this has changed my phone. It no longer lags like before.. I'm downloading like several things at once, and I'm still able to move about the phone w/o any slowing down.

I installed this leak and it is way better than 1.5. A tad speedier, better market, much improved settings UI, etc.

I was a little disappointed that the 3D Photo Gallery was missing, so I went searching and found this: http://cocaman.ch/wp/2010/05/cooliri...or-htc-desire/

I installed and it runs great!

Can't find where Picasa support exists in the leaked ROM (is it even in there?), but this 3D gallery I installed has it. :-)
