Ouch. Just a few days ago, it seems like a certainty that Sprint would be pushing out Android 2.1 updates to the aging Samsung Moment and HTC Hero, but now a company admin has stepped in to assure us that things aren't nearly that close to go. The full text is pasted in after the break, but the long and short of it is this: the long-awaited 2.1 update is now on track "to be available in Q2." The carrier did confess to wanting this out sooner rather than later, but hey, at least your patience is really, really appreciated. Official Sprint Statement: Android 2.1" Hello Community Members, We wanted to let you know that Sprint continues to work closely with Samsung and HTC to deliver the highly anticipated Android 2.1 upgrade for Samsung Moment and HTC Hero. We are on track for the upgrade to be available in Q2. Sprint had hoped to have this resolved by now - we thank our customers for their patience as we work to bring them a positive experience with this upgrade. |

I'm pretty sure that Sprint is going to wait until after the EVO 4G is released so that people will "upgrade" their Heroes and Moments into it.

im happy with the samsung moment DD10 leak, i have root, lockbot pro and panda home so my phone is nice and schnazzy so im in no hury im going to the evo upon release anyways

Sprint People shouldn't be mad, Tmobile hasn't said a thing about any upgrade for the G1 or Mt3G. Ntelos users not a peep about 2.1 updates for their phones.

Here is the thread with the Sprint Hero leak info. You could also check out xda-developers.com. They have custom 2.1 ROMS for the hero that many like. Some are based off the official leak. |

Thanks, and just because tmo's first generation Android phone doesn't have a idea when it will get 2.1 doesn't make me feel any better grdlok. Don't they both have 1.6 though? Mayb not, but either way the Hero came out way after g1, and shortly after mt3g so I would hope by now Sprint and HTC would have 2.1 ready . Hero and Moment users won't see 2.1 until way after the Evo comes out unless they flash or root it themselves. I'm trying not to complain because I really love my Hero buy would love it more if it rocked the latest software. I guess my Mom will enjoy it while I enjoy the Evo lol. I'm gonna have two put her through a two week training session just to get the hang of the touch screen alone lol!!
