Palm Pre - Workaround for Power Down or Cycling When Closing Slider
Interesting e-mail I got from a little birdie.
Palm Pre - Workaround for Power Down or Cycling When Closing Slider Customers could experience random power down or power cycling after closing the slider. Example - a customer has the slider open to type an SMS or an email and closes the slider and then tries to wake the device, but it has powered down. Workaround: If the customer complains of a random power down or power cycling after closing the slider, these steps must be followed, in order: Pull battery out of the device to determine Cell Origin which is located at the bottom of the battery between "Made in ..." and "Type". If the battery states “Made in China”, Cell Origin Japan, replace the battery with a Palm Pre battery that is Cell Origin Korea. If the customer already has a battery with Cell Origin of Korea, then replace and return the battery per their usual process. A device replacement can only occur if the customer has had the battery replaced as outlined in step 3 and they are returning to the store due to the device continuing to power down (refer to image for an example).
