Master Reset For Blackberry Curve

I activated a new Blackberry Curve 8330 5 days ago and it has barely left my side. Feel like I gave it a good run. After these days I've decided that it is not for me and want to put it on ebay to see if I can recoup some of my money. I changed back over with Sprint tonight to my old phone. Anyone know how to do a master reset on the Blackberry 8330 so that all my info is erased and it reverts back to defaults? I got the PIN unregistered (learned I needed to do that by reading here!) but think surely there is a way to do a master reset so that I don't have to manually delete the phone book, email info etc. I did a battery pull but that doesn't clear the phone completely. to like it was when new. Thanks in advance!! Happy and Prosperous New Year to all!!

Looks like everything is pretty much gone however, when I click on "call log" on the home screen it still shows my phone number. There must still be residual information on the phone. Any suggestions?

Send a message via AIM to flipn0tic
Press the BB menu button from your call log screen, scroll down to Options-->General Options, and change "Show My Number" to "No".

Of course that just hides it. Not sure about the info that is potentially buried somewhere in the phone.

Yeah ... I did find that option but like you said, it only hides the number and a new owner would only have to go in and change that option to see my number. Not that it's really SUCH a big deal. But ya nevah know the extent of what can go on in the world. Seems that as soon as the new owner would activate the phone, that info would change to their number. I also had to change the voice mail # option to all zeros as it would not let me simply delete without actually leaving another 10-digit series there. Can't find any option at all to change/delete my number from the phone. Thanks 6string and flipnOtic ... anyone else wanna take a stab at it?

you would have to have the msl number so you could go in like you were reprogramming the phone only sprint has this number and they may or may not give it to you. If you have wiped the phone you should be fine but if you are that concerned about your cellular number being found you would be surprized to know the buyer could do a lot more with your name and address that will be on the box right?

Zaba search that info it is much easier to find out personal info on a person with that than a cell phone number...

Thanks Scrumptious ... you are exactly right. Guess I'm just being paranoid. The voices keep bringing all these unscrupulous scenarios to my attention!

There is a utility out there called Jl_Cmdr which will take the device wipe process a step further and completely clean out the phone. However, it is a little more technical since the OS needs to be reinstalled.

This walks you through the process:

Perhaps your SMS and Email boxes are combined?

You may have to go into the settings and seperate them to have the SMS box.

If I remember correctly go to mailbox, options, and general options. Something like. Email and messages share same folder, choose no.

I haven't had a Blackberry in about a month or I'd look at it and walk you through it... If that doesn't help let me know and I'll see if I can come up with something else.

The security wipe clears most information but not the programming, which is why you still see the phone. Also, keep in mind that wiping the device does not delete your BIS account.
