No Alert and No Visual Voicemail On Instinct

Hi,
People leave me voicemails but I don't get any 'star' alert that I have received a voicemail. Also, the phone visual voicemail option does not show any voice mail. When I just go to voicemail manually by dailing my number then I get to know that I have some voicemails for me.

Sprint different Tech support people tried for hours but still no gain. Now, they just told me that they filled a "Ticket" and someone will contact me within 72 hours. I do get 'star' alert whenever I receive the text msg and email, but no alert for the voicemail.

Does anyone else have same problem with Sprint Instinct?

If somebody knows the solution, It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did you have an Everything plan with your old phone? My girlfriend did with her old phone, then she got an Instinct and had the same problem you did. My Instinct was fine, though. She returned her Instinct twice and still no luck with visual voicemail. I figured if it's broken on 3 phones, it must be the account. We compared our plans, and one thing was missing on hers that I had on mine: "Enhanced PCS Voicemail" so we called Sprint and they just added it to her account. I'll keep you posted to see if that works!

I had the exact same problem about two weeks ago.

I called Sprint, they couldn't help me, so they filed a ticket and said they would call back in 72 hours, just like you. When they called me back, he had me try all sorts of stupid stuff that did not work. Finally I was forced to completely reset my phone, as soon as I did that, my voice mails started filing into visual voice mail. It started working again. Only downside is when you use "Reset Phone" , it deletes not only all your Contacts (which I just download from Mobile Sync) it also deletes all of your downloaded ringers and backgrounds.

Solution: Reset Phone
Downside: Lose all contacts, downloaded ringers and wallpapers.

Thnx for help. Does "Enhanced PCS Voicemail" shows up in "Plan Details" OR "Change Plan Add-Ons"? Because I don't see "Enhanced PCS Voicemail" in either of them.

Since it is added on her plan, did you try leaving voicemail if it shows up in visual voicemail?

I don't exactly know how to save your contacts to your computer.

But the way I solved the problem was I have the feature "Mobile Sync" enabled. Which I sure you know is a free service in which your phone periodically sends sprint all of your contacts over the internet. So when I reset my phone, It just automatically started downloading them immediately after I turned it back on. If you are not sure if you have this enabled on your phone go to Main>Settings>Mobile Sync, then see if its turned on. If it is, check the status to make sure it has been backed up recently.

might be a longshot,but do you all have ringback tones? If so that might be the culprit.

Ok here is an update on how we got the voicemail fixed. My girlfriend is on her 4th instinct, but everything works now! She had an Everything plan before she had an instinct, so they didn't upgrade her plan to the instinct everything plan with visual voicemail (they blamed the first rep who sold the phone for not setting it up properly). The Sprint reps tried everything, from resetting the phone, replacing it, reprogramming it, deactivating it, reprovisioning it, and more, but visual voicemail still wouldn't work. We knew it wasn't the phone because we had the same problem on 4/5 Instincts (mine worked flawlessly). They said the problem was with the network, or signal strength, but again, my phone worked perfectly only inches away. I had an idea that would recreate the circumstances of the first purchase. We had them swap the Instinct for an old phone on the main phone number, and put the Instinct on a secondary number, and then switch them back. And you know what, that worked. Visual voicemail is now working!

Yeah, I had the same problem and had to go to the sprint store and fight with them, and they finally gave in and exchanged my old instinct for a new one, and now it works perferct..... Its my 3rd instinct and hopefully last one. So far so good!! Good luck!
