WinMo Who thinks the Samsung Instinct will help bring Sprint back where it needs to be??

The Samsung Instinct should be coming out this June along with a bunch of other phones this Q2. Sprint has a lot of things lined up for this year. Is the Instinct going to be the main reason why Sprint will regain its customers, how will Sprint make up for last year's huge losses?? Tell me what you think??

Samsung Instinct

This is just one opinion, but it looks like a bump up of the Touch, which I tried and didn't like at that time, but I should have kept it and gave it a chance. The Instinct looks great and if I can afford it I am looking to upgrade one of my lines by late summer so I hope that if there are any issues with it they will be worked out by then.
I did watch the video on Utube and I am getting excited about actually seeing it when it hits the stores.........

It will not hurt, but one phone isn't going to solve all of Sprint's problems. It's a step in the right direction, but i think Sprint Nextel's problems are more internal than anything, i think. Hesse seems to be attacking a number of these internal issues right now - which is good - he has gotten rid of some of the bad blood and brought in some wireless/cellular industry heavy hitters and has also put customer service at the top of the list. So, no, i don't think the instinct is going to be the saving grace of this corporation, i think Dan Hesse will be.

I think Sprint has an impressive line of phones. Sure, typically the coolest phones go to GSM providers first, and CDMA networks tend to lag behind GSM by about a year--BUT...I've been on T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint...and by far, Sprint offers the best deal in terms of network coverage in the US, reasonably-priced data plans, decent 3G coverage, and in my experience, their customer service has been awesome. I agree with other posters that suggest one phone will not fix a company--but Sprint has been hemorraging customers and has taken some bold moves to hold onto and gain new customers. I give them lots of credit for that.

I really hope Sprint continues to grow.

+1 Frambosie. I still feel Sprint needs to clean a lot of areas up that getting new phones won't solve before you see some major positive impacts for Sprint.

Hey lets face it when you have several competitors you have to be aggressive to be the best in the market.
That is just like Ford,GM,Toyota, etc, GE and Whirpool, someone has got to be on top and the devolopers have to be the best and come up with something that will win the consumers over or they will fall by the wayside.
The competition is getting harder so they will have to be smarter in order to come out on top
I am sticking with Sprint and hope that they will prevail............

Not with out Marketing, Sprint need to put alot of cash behind this product and knock it out of the park with Ad's.....Along with continuing the hard-hitting promotion of SE plans....

It could help them alot. But they need to stay aggressive and keep focued.

I agree, but i think things are a bit more complicated than that. Let me explain what i mean.

First and foremost, i am convinced that there is something going on with the FCC chairman. He's already under investigation for being in bed with Verizon.

Now, let's not forget that Verizon is owned by Vodaphone - on of the largest international carriers. So, Vodaphone can dump billions into Verizon and never really feel hard pressed for cash. Plus, lets not forget that Verizon has some serious stock in terms of its wired services (fiber internet, fiber phone and fiber TV).

I still don't even know how the AT&T Cingular merger was even allowed to happen, that just reeks of unfair business practice IMHO.

So, for Sprint, it has always been an uphill battle but for the most part Sprint PCS has been able to hold it's own and remain #3. Unfortunately, good ol' Forsse and his gang of morons decided to dump billions into the Nextel purchase. So, you've got billions in expenditures on an aging system and crappy direction/leadership/oversight from the top and your only going headed into trouble. Sprint is hurting hard because of this. Dan Hesse probably came in at just the right time. As i said earlier, i am confident he will save this company.

The other thing you have to compete with is the idiocy of the user base. Most people don't understand the physics and engineering behind cellular services. They expect that radio waves can travel and travel and you should be able to get full strength regardless of location or circumstance. So, when someone dosent get service the pitch a ***** and holler and hoot and tell all their friend's Sprint sucks. Couple that with some CS issues and a total lack of PR and marketing strategy, again thing's can only get worse.

If you ask me, Sprint has got it right. Their concept of how a phone should and will be used now and in the future is spot on. This isnt only about talk, its about talk text data and media. They are the only carrier that truly understands that - as you can see with their reasonable rate plans, the simply everything plan and plan add ons in general. Look at AT&T and Verizon, they charge you an arm and a leg for data and a measly 200 text messages - trust me i cam from Verizon so i know all about it. Sprint has been consistently ahead of the game for years, before the iPhone was even a twinkle in Job's eye.

I think we are starting to see a turnaround soon. The next few quarters will be hard but Sprint will make it through, i have no doubt about that. Hesse is on the right track - a strong top down leadership and media blitz will turn this thing around.

My theory is most don't realize that you must update your phone on a regular basis. They are constantly updating towers and firmware and those who use older phones, like my sister who has been using the same phone for over 5 years and has never updated it.
She says she has no problem with it but she seldom uses it. I am not even sure if hers is even a dual band but I do know that updating really helps with the coverage unless you live where towers are not yet established close enough to work and I know that Sprint has improved on that.

I think it's slick and has good potential but I don't like that there isn't a keyboard. I just don't care for the touchscreen-only things.

I tried the iPhone and actually liked the keyboard. I don't mind touchscreen keyboards if they work well and are intuitive. Apparently the interface is supposed to mimic actual touch and response. If it has tactile feedback it'll be worth it to me. We'll see when it comes out this summer.

I believe that this phone will satisfy people like myself that like the IPhone but dislike AT&T as a carrier.

I was surprised and disappointed to see that Sprint is requiring anyone who wants this phone to have a "Simply Everything" plan. I think they are making a big marketing mistake with this mentality. If they want people to sign 2 year contracts , don't force them into a plan.

Just my 2 cents,
