Four Points Denver, Southeast is a nice hotel. It's not Downtown, but it's not too far of a drive. And it's not that expensive.

The Four Points Denver has pretty good rates. I believe if you have a AAA card you can get a room for about $80 - $90.

Your best bet is to use something like Orbitz, or Priceline. You'll always find better deals than just calling. Since I used to work for Marriott I know for a fact that hotels have to set aside rooms for sites like Orbitz at a special negotiated price.

Or if you're by yourself and not too picky, you might wanna look into hostels.

It's more like a dorm where multiple people share the same room/bathroom. They're not as nice as hotels but they're not nearly as expensive either.

As an additional option, you might want to look up hotel prices on Orbitz or Priceline and then just call up the hotel and ask them to price match, most of them will do it (unless you're going the "name your own price" route). If the hotel will price match it's better to book it with them since they usually offer cancellation options and I'm not sure you can cancel on Priceline or Orbitz without a fee (not 100% sure on that though).
