Need Help - No Number Port - Refund Ideas

I am glad to find this forum, I need your help.

What I need from you:

1) Ideas to get my plan canceled without the $250 fee
2) Ideas to get the money back for the phone I purchased
3) Ideas to get my money back for months I have already paid for

My Situation:

My Cingular contract was month to month so I was looking to see if a Sprint contract may server me better. I purchased a sprint plan to try out their services for 30 days. When I first purchased the phone I was told they will be able to port my number without a problem, however I did not want to port my number until I was sure I was going to keep the Sprint phone. After 30-days I decided I like the Sprint phone and would keep it. When I tried to get my number ported they told me it could not be ported. I have talked to the porting department for several hours and nothing has been resolved. I have had the phone for a few months (been too busy to get this straightened out) and have not turned it on since I decided to keep my Cingular phone since I could keep my phone number.

Any ideas/tips to solve my afformentioned objectives?

Did sprint/cingular tell you that porting could be done after 30 days and not only during activation?

Now about cancelling the phone.. You've already signed a contract to pay ETF if you want to cancel. About the other refunds. you've used the service, and the phone, I dont understand how can you can request refund for what you've already taken advantage of. I think, your only other option, if porting cant happen at all, is to start telling the callers on the cingular to call on your new sprint phone. Goodluck.

Sprint first said they could port the number when I was signing up for the phone ... then when I actually went to port the number they said that they could not port the number because they do not have service or numbers in that area.

I was sold the phone on false pretenses.

Actually I have not used the services. I haven't turned on the phone for months. It is just setting on the floor out of power.

Thanks for your input.

You've had the phone for months? You should suspend the service if you aren't using it, at least. Odds are you are going to have to pay that ETF and monthly service fees, especially if it's been longer than a month.

:/

For all these months that you kept the service, regardless of u used it or not, did you pay the bill on time? Considering you have you must talk to executive services to still see if they could get the number ported for you and what was the problem for porting. Depending on solution provided by Executive services, if things are still not resolved, you should talk to retention department to see if porting is not at all possible, what they could offer for you.. or what you'd accept to stay with sprint and cancel cingular.

Also another last resort is to talk to cingular and see if they'd pick up the ETF if you renew your contract with them instead of leaving them for good. Am not sure they would but worth a try..

You can call in to suspend service on a line. You will still be paying a monthly charge, but ridiculously cheaper (if anyone knows the exact amount, feel free to point it out). Basically, your phone goes on standby- there is no service on it. Rather than keep racking up your bill, suspend it at least, so you won't be paying the full MRC, until everything is straightened out. Phones can stay on suspension for up to 6 months max. You can take it off at any time. Good luck!
