motorola wirless management?
I hope this doesn't come off too convoluted. When I first got my Photon, I ran it stock, and noticed that, with 3G, 4g, and WiFi left on, I could go an easy 16 hours on a single charge, with medium to heavy usage, as long as a juiced a little in the car. This went on for my first several weeks. But, as time went by, I needed more and more power, and soon could only get about 4 hours on one charge unless I shut off data when not in use. I tried all sorts of options to manage power: Juice Defender, Green Power.. None really did as well as just manually turning off data. I loaded Go Launcher Ex, and for several more weeks, it was like having a new device. I was back up to 14+ hours on a single charge. Then my device started running hot and rebooting. So I put all the extras in App Quarantine and scaled back to basics. I'm still rooted, for the moment, but only rooted for the free WiFi tethering, not realizing that foxfi made this possible without root.
Now, everything is running better again and I noticed something that I had seen on an associates's Moto Razr Maxx... When the phone first wakes up, it looks like data is off. Then, moments later, it turns whatever data on that had been on previously. Turn the screen off for a while, and, after a bit, data shuts off again, So, the basic Motorola UI seems to have some kind of built in data management software to put data options to sleep when the phone is asleep. I don't remember seeing this before. Does anyone else have experience with this? Also, any thoughts to unrooting since foxfi is available and doesn't require it? Thanks! |

So... Does Motorola have their own software to manage wireless functions, since my stuff seems to go to sleep when the screen has been off for a while? Does this mean don't need to shut it off manually to save power?
