Yes and it has to be a Sprint branded phone for Sprint to activate it. They will not activate a non-Sprint phone.

You can also check out www.kajeet.com. They are a wireless provider that runs on sprints network. They are pricey when buying a phone directly from them, but it seems that they have good parental controls. They are specifically for kids so it seems from their site. You can have total control over your child's phone and not have to worry about their usage.

My 10 year old son has a Samsung Seek, Sprint does't sell those anymore. They have one called Samsung Trender for FREE right now. It's simple and he only use it in case of emergency.

Does your child plays games? They have an Android named ZTE Fury that costs $19.99

Sprint has complete control over what phones they allow on their network, and they still lose money every year!

If the phone does not say Sprint on it, then Sprint will not activate it.

Have you considered a Push To Talk combo? Get a Motorola ADMIRAL Android phone for you and a Kyocera DuraXT rugged phone for your child. Enable Sprint Direct Connect. Both of those phones are on Sale for $0.99 through July 14th. http://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/onlin...ayAisleLanding

Sprint uses CDMA towers so whatever phones you activate obviously have to use CDMA. Verizon at&t and t-mo all use different technology so no hspa+ phones will work on our network.

My grandson is 10 too, he had a seek and now a Rumor Touch both have parental controls on them, where you have to put a pin in and control what you want the phine used for. He can only text and call...NO web or anything like that. Both phones are kid friendly and easy use for the kids, he gets upset he cannot go on the web, but my answer is too bad you are too young...Give them a try...Ebay is a good place to get one on those phones...

Not with that phone at all, but with Kyocera on another phone that I had for my grandson and I did not like the brand Kyocera but too each is own...Good luck and I am sure any phone you get for your child they will love...just to have one....
