Sprint iPad onthe Way

Since it doesn't much make sense for Appleto develop a product that supports a niche and dying network technology (Wimax), Sprint was left out of the recent updated iPad launch festivities. However, based on some leaked BeSt Buy inventory screenshots snagged by the folks at Engadget, it looks like Sprint customers won't have long to wait before Sprint offers a version that works on their upcoming LTE network. http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/S...the-Way-118799

IF LTE comes to Sprint!

Knowing how Sprint operates, it could be YEARS before LTE gets here, so by then, we'll have the Holographic Ipad 12 with Teleportation capabilities!

Clearly(sic) it is not so trivial to build a device that can handle ALL possible LTE band combos, as some have suggested...

Apple's new iPad fails to support European LTE frequencies

Apple's latest iPad will not connect to many LTE networks in Europe given the company's decision to support frequencies used by North American operators.

While support for LTE has been a key feature of the latest generation of the iPad, Apple's choice to support the 700MHz and 2.1GHz bands has excluded European and many Asian consumers from being able to use the LTE capabilities. Those frequencies are geared toward AT&T mobility and Verizon Wireless in the United States as well as Canadian operators.

Operators in Finland, Germany, Portugal and Sweden are now offering LTE services and European regulators have assigned 800MHz and 2.6GHz for LTE use. The 700MHz band is currently still assigned for TV broadcasts in Europe, and the 2.1GHz band remains in use for 3G services. Any attempts to use these bands for LTE is seen as unlikely before 2016.
so if it is true that Apple will build an iPad for Sprint LTE, before it does for EU LTE bands, that *is* a feather in Sprint's cap... IF...

On topic, I doubt any iPad will be launched for Sprint till the LTE network is actually up and running properly in at least the largest 10 cities.

Although I'm not sold on carrier branded tablets, I would warm up to it if the data plans were revised so you don't need a seperate plan for each device.

I guess it all depends on where you live?

That was about 5 minutes ago. Not blazing fast, but certainly not insanely slow either. Maybe contact Sprint and see if the towers in your area are having issues? It sure helped my speeds!

It is insanely slow when my friend gets 4.0+ on his 3G AT&T phone.

those entries were likely just placeholders in anticipation for the ipad release. Sprint may not get an ipad until the next variant drops.

Are those speeds on the actual network,or from an airave? I have turned my airave off to see my true speeds at home.

At where I typically work my speeds are much higher, averaging 1.2 to 1.5 megs on download speeds and 1 meg on uploads.
