iPhone4s misc experience/review....

(10 year sprint customer)just my own two cents....take it for what it's worth.

my gf had a slow 8gb iPhone and her daughter an 3gs. we upgraded both to 4gs's and i tinkered with my gf's phone a fair amount over the weekend.....

Sooo, realize i have a launch day EVO and am quite satisfied with it. in fact, i haven't found anything on the iPhone that i haven't already been enjoying for the past year and a half on my EVO.

impressions

the crisp, clear screen is awesome!
generally most multi-media related tasks provide a richer exp on the iPhone IMO. the camera on the 4s is much improved over even the ip4.
application development is superior for the iPhone overall. again, that's my opinion. i wish it weren't true, but they were first to market and as such i think will hold that advantage for some time. android is catching up though =)
battery life seems to match, if not outperform my evo.

while some will argue the phone is fairly customizable, i feel it's pretty limited. i especially felt limited for ex when using the youtube app. my gf didn't have an account and there wasn't an option to "set up" an account from the phone. one must first go online via a dektop. with my EVO there pretty much isn't anything i HAVE to use a desktop for.

siri

mixed reviews on this one. functionally i found that siri was equally accurate compared to my google voice functionality. siri did handle task specific items such as schedule changes, meetings, reminders etc better than google. so at this point siri has an advantage. i do believe the google team will have a swift answer in the coming weeks to months with their ice cream sandwich release.

another note about siri......on my gf's daughter's phone, siri seems to have a "personality" and responds with witty comments. on my gf's phone, that personality is missing, strangely?? i checked settings and cannot find anything to check, change or update this??

one other thing of note, and this is more for those who are familiar with the iPhone's......
my gf's phone constantly display's a "circle" in the network notification bar, whereas her daughters display's a 3G symbol? anybody experience this or have any ideas?

ultimately, messing around with the phone over the weekend didn't do anything to lure me towards the iPhone. in fact, it actually helped reinforce my appreciation for my EVO, realizing just how far ahead of the game it was when it came out and how it remains a formidable and viable option still even after a year and a half. i really wish sprint was getting the nexus galaxy...=(

Comparing a phone you've to tinkered with vs a phone you've had over a year is something. The battery is much better than the Evo will ever be, every news outlet will confirm that.

Your other points are fair enough, being that you only used the phone briefly you probably don't know all the icons etc.

I agree that ice cream sandwich will be awesome, Andy stated that he doesn't think a phone should talk to you... or something. But I think he was trying to downplay Siri, in reality they are probably going to focus on voice a little more.

Android is getting better, they need to fix the upgrade schedule. I'll never get an android phone again unless its a nexus phone.
