LG Optimus "Slider" Sprint bound?

Not much here, and just a render image.... but still thought I'd post it.

If I remember correctly, this was scheduled for a 9/11 release date.

Well, I'm thinking the term "slider" means keyboard, but I could be wrong

I have an Optimus and I assume this is the replacement model. It could be a really good phone if they just changed a few things. My biggest complaint is the tiny internal memory allocated for applications. As soon as I got the phone and after installing just a few apps I got a memory warning. The only real way to solve this was to root the phone and install a custom ROM. But that is not really a good solution because some programs act very buggy when they are not installed where they are supposed to be. Moving them to the SD card or even other areas of the internal memory can cause instability. I get a lot more crashes now and forced quit of apps. If they could just give you about 256MB of free memory for apps that need to reside on the internal memory that would help out a lot.

A slightly larger screen and faster CPU would also be welcome. Doesn't have to be super AMOLED or a Tegra2, but just a little bit better than the current Optimus. I am sure the probably addressed these 3 issues with the new version. Don't understand why they thought it needed a keyboard though. I prefer it without one even at 3.2", and if they increased it to 3.5" even better.

Also having a Optimus S, I think LG made a good phone, (even with some short comings) my first LG ever. I would have no problem considering another LG in the future.

Yeah me too. My Optimus was only meant to be an interim phone until the Galaxy SII or iPhone comes to Sprint. The new Photon does look interesting though. I do owe my Optimus a huge debt of gratitude for getting me out of the pure hell I lived in with my Touch Pro 2 and Windows Mobile. I will stick with my Optimus until around the September/October time frame and then upgrade to the best phone I can get at that time unless they get released earlier. Like you I would consider another LG phone, especially the Optimus 3D that we will never see on Sprint because it would compete too directly with the Evo 3D. It will come to AT&T soon though apparently.

It is a great mid level phone and if the new one has a 3.5" screen, more internal memory and CPU, I might even consider one as long as it does not include WiMax. The reason for that is I do not live in a WiMax area so it is useless to me and also since I am on SERO-P we have to pay $10 more for 4G phones vs. 3G only ones. So if I have to pay $10 more, I might as well go with a Galaxy SII or Photon.

That Optimus 3D looks sweet. Never saw that. "Tri dual core" ... tech is moving so fast... by the time the GSII comes, (hopefully it will for sure) they'll be news about better phones upcoming early next year that will make you think twice about getting the GSII lol, it never stops does it. But then, that is a good thing
I know one thing, we'll never see the deal we got on our Optimus S's. I still haven't used up the $100.00 Walmart card I got with that, for a 50 dollar phone

The "Upcoming Phones" section on sprintusers has "July 31" listed as unconfirmed release date for this phone. Does anyone know the basis of it?

Not sure where they got that date. But the leaked Sprint document I saw like a month ago, had 9/11 as the release date

Looks like the newest leaked roadmap (july 25) dropped the optimus slider off the list :-(
