The biggest thing I'm worried about is the lack of accessories and support that Samsung would give the Moment. There are almost no accessories for the Moment from everywhere I search and there is ZERO word about the Moment getting any kind of update to Android. If both of these can be remedied then I'll definitely get the Moment. I know HTC will keep the Hero up to date and they already have been and there's already tons of accessories for it. Samsung is making their own OS so it worries me more but if they support the Moment then I'm game cus I really like it in every way over the Hero except for those two points but they are deal breakers to me.

I am returning the Moment and getting the Motorola Droid with Verizon. I have been a Sprint customer for 10 years, but the Droid is just too good to resist. The Moment drove me nuts with being able to somehow hit the Mute button during calls. I would mute and then lose probably 1 out of every 5 calls. I love the Android OS, and have decided to go try the supposedly best Android phone out there.

How the heck did you manage to do that? Did your proximity sensor malfunction? Did you bring it back and maybe try another one?

I'm not sure. The screen always seemed to be off when I would check, but that damn mute button would get pressed a lot.

had both phones at the same time (just because I got the moment, and my girl got the hero).
Well long story short I now have the Hero and am very glad I switched. I know its just an opinion, and everyone is different, but I think the HTC's pro column HEAVILY outweighs the SAMSUNG's. 1. It is easy to tell this Hero is built better. Moment feels cheap and given the fact that Samsung has put out some really shakey stuff through Sprint the last two years..... 2. Camera has flash, and screen is nicer on the Moment! its true, but the camera on the Hero is actually a better camera (you can tell when you transfer your pictures to a computer and look at them; 3.2mp vs 5mp) 3. battery on the Moment actually lasted a bit longer but not much 4. UI on Hero....far better 5. I much prefer the on screen keyboard to the physical one of the Moment. Mainly because the multi-touch functionality of the HTC is just flat out better, easier to use, convienant, etc....Plus I never was real big into side sliders because they attribute to the bulkiness of the phone in an un-neccessary way. I actually prefer the Pre's qwerty board to the Moments. 6. I like the track ball better than the touch pad, and the track ball seemed to work better for me 7. I also think it just looks nicer... so this is all just opinion like everything else on here, but I am very happy with the Hero over the Moment....for me its way better. as far as iPhone mentions, with the android phones available now, iPhone is actually behind the game. unless you main objective is to have 32,000 songs in your phone, iPhones are not as versatile as androids. p.s. everyone likes different things and should try out both phones if they can.....my girl had the hero, which i switched to....now she has a pre and loves it...???? I’m 5 days into the Moment, and I’m underwhelmed, such that I’m already considering going to the Hero. Here’s why:
It’s tinny. The sound that is. Most reviews mention it, and they are completely correct. It almost sounds good, but there is distortion that won’t go away. The capacitive buttons are neat, but maybe 25% of my button presses are quickly followed by another button press because there is no indication that anything happened. In some application, for example, the menu button doesn’t do anything, and the only way to know that is that nothing happens when you hit the menu button. Slider quality: it’s been less than a week and it’s ready starting to wobble. It’s not that bad right now, but I can see where it’s going. Speaking of slider, the keyboard… I’m kinda-sorta getting used to the layout, but I’m hitting B rather than Space far too often. And the biggie here: there is sometimes a HUGE lag between a keyboard press and the character on the screen… the entire point of the hardware keyboard is that you are slower than the OS. This is really disappointing. Speaking of input devices, I think I’ve decided that I don’t like the optical mouse. It’s calibrated differently in different applications; some places a gently scroll goes 3 lines, in other places, 3 pages. Also, the mouse has the same lag as the keyboard, which makes typo correction a real pain in the butt. And finally, as of this posting, HTC has annouced that they will eventually release an update to 2.0. Samsung has not done the same. Am I going to switch devices? Right now I’m around 50-50. What's holding me back is mostly the dust-under-the-screen problem.
