Looks like there are 4 new live towers that could cover the Oak Hill area. My SA data is a bit older, but what I have showed the majority of the live towers to be pretty much within the Loop 1604 area, with the farthest North being around Bulverde and Evans.

Well I've decided to cancel the service. I called about 6 days ago cuz it was not working as fast as Time Warner Cable and they offered to extend my contract.

So I said what the heck why not? And I've been using it for the last few days.

Mostly I use the internet for surfing the web and a little file sharing. Apparently that can affect your latency or quality of service according to the lady I spoke with when I was about to cancel. Anyways that part I can understand a little. However even when I was not file sharing (that is during the initial first 3 to 4 days of this 20 day trial) the internet was almost unusable. The webpages loaded up so slowly. Everything seemed to take FOREVER.

Speedtests done daily and hourly kept returning with latencies in the 90-100 ms range which every computer guy I know said is terrible.

Yes I understand that the network is wireless unlike TWC/Road Runner but still if you're going to offer an internet service I would think you'd make it so that these issues don't exist right off the bat. Especially in this day and age. The funny thing is that the various reps keep saying Dec 1s or late Nov is when the whole network should "live" or w/e but as we get closer to it I don't really see any improvements....

Anyways I'm sad that it wasn't a great experience since I would have gotten a great discount with them but ultimately I can't make everyone in my family suffer and listen to their complaining daily because I'm curious to try out this new and possibly great technology.

I guess I'll wait till FiOS comes to Raleigh, NC. When that happens I have no clue but I am hoping it will be sooner rather than later. Apparently everyone loves that service and it's super fast in every single aspect....

Let me know when coverage is solid over Judson/Nacogdoches/Stahl area and I'll possibly be interested. The one part of town I travel to when I come to SA is that region, and according to Sprint's maps that is a big fat orange with a few splotches.

The last information I received on the San Antonio towers showed a definite gap in towers around those areas. I received a recent update in Austin towers but not San Antonio. I'm checking to see if there is any more recent information on new SA towers. Stay tuned...

Giga OM

Stacey with Giga Om has an article today about the official launch in Austin today. She didn't seem to impressed. I just wished we knew how much they planned on expanding in the Austin/San Antonio areas in the next few months. My internet contract will be up soon and I need to find another option. I pay way to much for such slow speeds.
