moment or hero
Agree 100% though I dont really see much of an improvment with the moments processor its merely the flash that is missing on the hero (for the life of me I cant figure out why they left it out, not like its a cheap phone)

I have the Moment and like it pretty well so far. My biggest gripes are that I somehow hit the mute button on the screen with my face constantly when on calls, even with the proximity sensor, and that I have to charge it every day even with relatively light use. I might go take a longer look at the Hero to see how I like the on-screen keyboard. Two other things I would like changed on the Moment would be some kind of led or something to notify you when you have missed calls/texts without having to turn the screen on as well as a different color scheme for messaging. The black on slightly lighter black make it very drab when texting.

look into this

I went to the sprint store the other day and the employee there told me about a cool app. It's called "advanced task killer". It basically helps you preserve you're battery life because when you run it you disable all the apps and progs that are running in the background even though you are not using them. I personally have the same problem with battery life. I just got this app installed today so I can't say much as to how well it works but I already know of this issue that apps run in the background even though you may not be using them and trust me there are plenty. Personally I've seen 5-10+ (sometimes) running even though I'm not using them (GPS, camera etc...). The one other thing I can think of is go into setting and manually adjust your brightness and turn it down to the minimum you can tolerate (instead of auto, called "auto backlight" on my hero). Lastly, set the "screen time out" features and alike. This way you don't need all the bells and whistles running too long. Set it to like 15 secs or less. I'm sure if you do all of the above you will notice a large improvement in battery life. P.S. I just remembered, for what it's worth they told me not to leave the phone on the charger over night but to charge it for about 4 hrs and then that's it(supposedly its bad to "over charge it") |

The battery lif is better on the Moment rated at 5.5 talk hrs and the Hero is rated at 4.0 talk hrs. This information is from the manufactures.

The Moment has a proximity sensor which will turn the screen off when the phone is close to your face. The Hero has an LED indicator so you don't need to turn the screen on obsessively all the time.

above
I went in the store and was gonna get the hero and the rep told me that a new phone (they barely knew the name) was gonna come out in a few days, so I waited and in the end still got the hero. I just wonder it anyone had both to compare? And yeah, the learning curve was steep for me at least. They are annoying to figure out and a lot of things are simple in the end its just sad the the instructions nor the morons at sprint actually can help. For example how to get pics off the phone (turned out u have to drag it from the top down and press "usb connect" after connecting the usb) kind of mount it.though I've still yet to actually figure out how to setup an native email account where u set up the POP account. If anyone know please help.
P.S. The only thing that pisses me off after I went with the hero was that the camera was 5mg but lacked a flash. |

I went for the Samsung Moment and I'm loving it!!!
I've been playing with one of my co-worker's Hero for a few days and I was convinced that was the phone I wanted, but I went to a Sprint store yesterday and held the Moment and the Hero side by side and compared most features, and I liked the Moment a lot better than the Hero. The screen is brighter and the colors look more vivid, my wife immediately noticed it without me even opening my mouth, IT IS BETTER, is a fact of nature no fan boy can deny (I know they will though). Senese UI is better than vanilla Android no doubt about it but for me it reminded me a lot of TouchFLO 3D and being a frustrated Windows Mobile user that came running to Android I really don't want that painful memory on my phone. (I do realize they are separated things but hey!! I got issues) Keyboard is important for me, the dust issue on the Hero's "gap" between the screen and the bottom panel is also a factor and finally there's a bit of barley noticeable speed difference but I'm sure it will disappear once you have installed apps and loaded contacts etc. Two places where the Moment is faster: Boot up time and camera app the rest is barley unnoticeable. After making my evaluation I made my purchasing decision and spent all night playing with the phone and I'm very, very satisfied. Is not for everyone and if you're more of an Iphone kind of guy I guess the hero is better. I also expect vanilla Android phones (or Google Experience I should say) like the Moment and the Droid to get updates faster like the G1 that is already rocking 1.6 |

The Moment is great!
I looked at the Hero, but it just wasn't the one for me. After being on a phone with only a virtual keyboard for a year, I was ready to have the option of the physical keyboard back again! Also, the display on the Moment is just incredible! |

I have only used the Hero a little in the store and my friend also has one. He loves his Hero so far and it has a decent amount of apps for it. If you don't like the fact that your Instinct has no keyboard I would say wait for the Moment. If you don't mind the keyboardlessness I would go with the hero. It has a better user interface and in my opinion a better form factor. I'm going to wait until the Moment comes out to decide if I like it more/can mod it to have Senseui (Hero's interface).

what about the 35.00 exchange fee now that sprint has? gonna add $70 to your decision.. that's insane I can't decide what phone to get. Not a fan of virtual keyboards and the moment seems like a BRICK to me
