sprint shadiness -- removed my unlimited text without notice
A few weeks ago, after a long battle with Sprint, I was able to upgrade my phone from a Treo 700p to a TP2. All seemed well, but it turned out that Sprint removed the "unlimited texting" feature WITHOUT telling me and they are insistent that they cannot "put it back".
Now I'm (basically) forced to pay an additional $5 a month for the minimal text plan. Still a good deal for me (now $35 instead of $30), but nevertheless, a little shady on Sprint's part. Last edited by giants_fan; 11-04-2009 at 01:28 PM. |

If you have SERO, they can add your unlimited texting back. They have SERO plan codes that still have texting hard coded into the plan and they can switch you to one of those plans.
You would likely need to bring this to retentions, and if they cant / wont help it would have to goto executive services.

Are you really sure you don't have unlimited text?
Look at your account usage online and see if it says unlimited for text messages. Sometimes they redundantly add the unlimited text add-on plan option even though the base plan already has unlimited text, so basically for some, they have double unlimited text, and after losing one, they still have unlimited text, but don't realize it. |

That's when Sprint said they removed it because my new phone (TP2) is not compatible, blah blah blah. Honestly, I know they are BS'ing me, but at the same time, I'm just so tired of arguing with them. The really pathetic thing is that, when I first activated my TP2, I was smart enough to have the CSR on eChat say "there will be no changes to your account". However, today they claimed that they had changed it *before* the CSR said there would be no changes to the account. So she said "no changes" to an account that had already been changed! Can you believe that crap?! And yes, I did the usual...please-check-with-your-supervisor-thing and it was the same answer. Sprint really really sucks...but, at the same time, I know SERO is an unbeatable deal. Sigh... |

they have to give it back to you. you have a history of bills online w/o ever being charged. i know it sucks, but looks like you'll have to fight to get it back but with enough persistence, i know you'll be able to get it back somehow.

did you buy the phone thru them and have them activate it?
this is another reason i am scared to upgrade my phone. i will probably just buy a p hone off ebay and activate it online myself. i think TP2 you can do that. instead of dealing with sprint. |

I am sure you can get it back on there... you just have to talk to the right person.
This story is just another example of why Sprint is only worth $30 a month to me... I will never pay them more for the crummy service I get. Hopefully SERO sticks around for awhile. I may do the TP2 as well... or see what new WM phones are coming up. |

What you have is the original SERO plan. Probably from four years ago, right? When I first signed up I had that, then about two years ago when I renewed my contract I switched to the SERO labeled deal that included 7pm nights and weekends.
The titled SERO plan is better and you should be able to get switched but it might take a few calls to get it done. Maybe call the SERO folks directly? |

The Fair and Flexible 500 plans (or 1250) are clones. They were designed when Sprint was migrating from P2K to Ensemble. They were designed because in Ensemble, SERO doesn't allow for the NVP discount attachment and there were a lot of SERO subscribers who had it in P2K. The only way those subscribers could keep their discount was to change plans, or be put on a similar plan. |

Well, while you all are looking at plans, I thought I had a SERO plan. Not sure when I got it, it has been a while. I switched from the non-EVDO plan to the EVDO plan when the original Touch came out (11/07) and I got Retentions to add 500 free text messages at some point. Otherwise it has been unchanged. I also have a corp discount on it (23%). Here are the details below ...
Sprint Fair & Flexible Plan Unlimited Mobile to Mobile Adjustable Anytime Minutes Caller ID $30.00 Minimum Monthly Charge Call Waiting AMERICA - ROAMING Included Three-way Calling Nationwide Long Distance Included Voicemail Unlimited Night & Weekend Mins. Included Nights: M-Th 9PM-7AM Wknd: F 9PM-M 7AM Unlimited Data Access Monthly charge for service plan $30.0 Plan add-ons Unknown Item$0.00 500 SMS MESSAGESIncluded America Expanded Voice CoveragIncluded Nights and weekends starting at 9pmIncluded PCS PICTURE MAILIncluded Allow International CallsIncluded |

Again, if you have a NVP discount and it says FAIR and FLEXIBLE, it's a SERO clone plan. Authentic SERO plans say SERO. |
