Tonight frontline
will be airing an episode "cell tower deaths"

The demand for better and faster cell phone service comes with a hidden cost. This joint investigation by FRONTLINE and ProPublica has found that the independent contractors who are building and servicing America’s cellular infrastructure are 10 times more likely than an average construction worker to die on the job. Complex layers of subcontracting insulate the carriers against liability, despite the fact that they set the aggressive schedule that can force subcontractors to cut corners in order to meet deadlines.

Tonight's episode of Frontline on PBS will be about cell tower deaths in connection with the wireless revolution. Knowing Frontline investigations, they will probably pin the blame on the shift to tower contractors and lack of regulation, but I'm sure the show will be interesting nonetheless.

Wow. I have an extreme fear of heights and I felt extremely anxious and my hands became sweaty watching that 7 minute video. I can't imagine the folks who do this for a living just to make ends meet and support their family.

That video just scared the crap out of me, I was shaking watching that. I'm not too afraid of heights, but climbing that high without any safety equipment is just ridiculous. One gust of wind, one slip of the foot, and you're dead.
