Sprint is a criminal corporation (Department of Redundancy Department) intent on coercing its customers to pay for services they do not need or already paid for, such as downloading ringtones. We all know this is ridiculous as we have our own ringtones, and the M610 plays .mp3s. So for Sprint to lock the phone in such a way that it will not allow us to use our own .mp3s as ringtones is nothing short of attempted theft.
However, I have discovered a way to trick the M610 into playing an .mp3 ringtone from the SD card.
Simply create the following folder on the SD card (assuming it doesn't already exist). Mine is mapped as "F".
"F:\DCIM\100SSMED"
Within that folder you can store your .mp3 ringtones. However you will have to change the file extension to .3g2 in order to get the M610 to recognize it as a video ringtone (e.g. classic_phone_ring.mp3.3g2).
It's not elegant, but it works. The downside is that when browsing video ringtones, the phone only shows a thumbnail, not the filename. So, you have to keep track of which ones are which fairly carefully.
Hope this helps others.

I have been unsuccessfuly in getting PC Studio to recognize the M610. The Sprint driver allows me to use the SD card as a mass storage device, but that is all. I can also use the phone as modem thing using the Sprint software, but I have no use for that.
I am still searching for a way to back up contacts via USB, and ideally via Outlook. I have read that Susteen's DataPilot will allow phonebook syncing, but I do not have that program yet. I am hoping for a better solution.
I think it is criminal that Samsung has allowed Sprint to dictate a locked-down phone, when clearly the technology supports a more robust user interface with the PC.
Has anyone out there found a solution for contact backup/syncing?
