Hey folks, first post on here. Here's my deal:

I had Sprint a few years ago. Left and just came back (this time I'm on my sisters family plan). I just made the switch, and I am currently using my old Treo 700P that I had with Sprint back in 2006.

At any rate, so this phone is out of contract given that I left Sprint after my 2 year committment was up, and upon adding it to my sisters current family plan I noticed in the bill that it's eligible for TEP.

My question is, is it correct that this phone, although no longer under 2 year contract can still be signed up for TEP? And also, would that mean that if something happens to this phone that Sprint would cover me for a new phone given that, again it's out of contract?

If anyone knows, I'd greatly appreciate your replies.

Thanks!

What is my best chance to get a newer phone. I did read the FAQs I understand TEP is not an upgrade program.

I plan to call a couple of Sprint stores and ask them what they would exchange it with. Is that my best option?

I tried the automated advance replacement self service, but retentions coded me as eligible for a new phone as a new customer, so self service just gives me the option of 30 satisfaction return.

Should I just file a claim with Asurion ESRP by phone and hope to get something newer? I am just looking for the best odds for an upgrade.

Well I installed nvbackup, but guess what because I cant use up the up down key the phone has an error that it cant lauch something or other and wont load, just keeps beeping and press ok. So I cant do anything with it, will sprint still honor the tep? I have the $7 one. When I originally called the store with just the backlight issue and screen, they said they could replace for free, but Im wondering if they still will?

Also, I dont know if they will allow me to put another phone on the line before the replacement comes in, or if they have a loaner, or if I have to wait til the phone comes in?

The manufacturer's warranty covers most things TEP does except physical damage/lost stolen... but even if that happened, you'd have to pay $100 deductible with TEP anyway.
So, is what I'm saying even plausible or am I just being stupid?

Hi,

This is more of a hypothetical question but I was wondering and was hoping someone might be able to help me out with their input.

My phone was stolen recently and due to the fact that I didn't have insurance, TEP, etc. and didn't qualify for an upgrade, I opted for a cheaper alternative through a used cell phone website.

While chatting with a Sprint customer service rep tonight over how to active the phone, she asked me if I wanted to add TEP to my plan. I was confused because a different Sprint customer rep had told me that TEP was strictly for only new phones purchased from a Sprint store. I figured though that if she was offering it to me, I might as well take it in case it comes in handy, especially considering the fact that it's a used phone. I even told her it was a used phone and she said it was fine as long as it was a newly activated phone. I checked my account online and TEP was there.

Main Question:
If I encounter problems later with this phone, problems not necessarily originated from my use but the previous user, or well, anything in general, will I be able to utilize the TEP to get the phone repaired/replaced?

Maybe it's a no-brainer and the answer is "duh, you're paying for it," but I was just wondering. Thanks for your input.

Hi,

his is more of a hypothetical question but I was just wondering and was hoping someone could give me their input on this.

I recently purchased a used phone off of a buy/cell cell phone website as a cheap replacement (didn't have TEP or insurance, don't qualify for a new phone yet) to my 2 month Samsung Reclaim that was recently stolen (ugh).

When I chatted with a Sprint customer service representative tonight about how to active my "new" used phone, she asked me if I wanted to add TEP. I was confused because I thought TEP was only for new phones purchased directly from Sprint (another Sprint representative had told me this over the phone on a previous telephone call) but I figured I might as well add it onto my used phone if she's offering. She said it would be prorated. I checked my Sprint account online later tonight and TEP has indeed been added.

Main question:
If I encounter any problems with the phone in the future, whether or not I am aware of the origin since it's a used phone, will I be able to get the phone repaired or replaced using the TEP? Just wondering how this might play out in the future.

Thanks! :)

The 755p when plugged into the sync/power connector, the 755p was stuck in a enless sync loop. When I took the device to the store for service, Sprint said that connectors on the bottom of the device where the sync is connected were dirty and some corrosion. Because of this they have now classified the device as water damage because of the corrosion the connectors and will not fix it if has any issues with the Headphone connector, Sync Connector, or Power Connector. this does not seem to be fair since these connectors are exposed and all connectors that are exposed will develop corrosion over time. Anyone have any thoughts on this or suggestions.

She's a heavy user and the slide out keyboard is working sporadically. If she went in to get it repaired and they offer her a replacement, would we have to pay the $100 deductible? She has TEP on her phone.

The problem is very annoying, but since it still works, we would rather not pay $100 right now.
At some point 1-2 years in the future I imagine the Palm Centro will no longer be available. What then will Sprint offer as a TEP replacement?

Will we:

1. Be given an android or pre and be forced to change plans, since smartphones are no longer allowed on SERO plans (yes, WinMo phones are currently allowed, but no way I will accept one as a palm replacement AND there's an even chance they will also be excluded from SERO in the future).

2. Or, will Sprint waive the SERO smartphone restriction?

3. Or finally (and maybe most likely) will they just stick us with some crappy smart-ish phone?

Thoughts?

OKay, so i have a PPC6700 that ive been using. it started slowing down and just not working right, then one day it just wouldnt come on. brought it into the store and they ordered me a new one. The replacement came, and right out of the box it froze when i went into the camera. it also had scratches and paint issues (worse cosmetic condition than my dead one). I carried it for a weekend and it stopped working as well. Brought it back in, store ordered me another one. This one comes in, and right out of the box (I took it out of the shipping box, not the rep. i asked if i could) the paint around the keyboard is flaking off and chipped!!! I brought it to the rep and i said "hate to be a B*TCH but this phone is chipping already". The rep said "ask my manager". Manager walked out and said "well we dont normally do this for cosmetics, but i'll order you another one this time". I said if its going to be another refurb 6700, then i dont want it. I want a different model... he said no we dont do that. So he ordered another 6700 for me, just incase this one wasnt up to par.... well its not. Ive used it for a week, and its completely sluggish, the ear piece is almost impossible to hear in the car, and the paint is coming off around the keyboard. ontop of that, it looks like theres something wrong with the hinge, because its very stiff to slide, and i noticed scrapes as well. MY question is this: Should I go back to the store and take the one they ordered for me, or should i call customer care and try to get them to send me something different? I called the day that moron manager told me "theres nothing i can do", and the person i got on the phone was even worse. The first rep said there should be another option, and transfered me to tech support. the tech support guy,who barely spoke english, attempted to tell me that because i take pictures my phone memory was full and thats why it was slow and not working right... i have a 2gb memory card, i explained. also, they didnt transfer anything to this phone, how could they, my other one was DEAD. I ended up hanging up on this idiot because he proceeded to tell me there was nothing he could do. I dont think he even understood what i was talking about. obviously. I point blank asked him "so let me get this straight, your telling me i cant take pictures on my camera phone...?" UGH!

question is: do i call retentions or another department, or go back to the store and complain? This is the 3rd device and its still not working right. I thought there was some policy about this stuff. My friend that works for Verizon said that after two swaps, they have to offer the option of a different model. Help!!! Im really getting frustrated with this phone, and sprint's lack of customer service.... =/

This saga began 7/6/09 and truly is a long story but I'll try to abridge it.

Needed Sprint TV and Nav .cabs sent OTA from Tech for my Mogul. Reached Adv. Tech Rep, who, after an hour searching for them to send me, ultimately ended up sending me texts directing me to xda for the Nav file and Megaupload for the TV. Week or so later phone won't load beyond bootloading screen. Gets that far and requires battery pull and cycle repeats.

Caught Tech. Supp. literally days before they lost the ability to perform Adv. Exchanges. Had replacement sent. It has huge white spot on screen. Without ever activating that device on my line, I call back and they dispatch a 2d Mogul. Over a week passed, no delivery, so I call in. Lo and behold, device delivered to and signed for by someone I've never heard of. As they'd stopped doing AE by this time, it took over 1 1/2 weeks to get Tech to send yet a 3rd device.:frustrate

Now my address is clearly stated on my acct. and has not changed since '03, yet the Rep manages to put the wrong delivery address on the shipping form. Another week or so later, I call in again inquiring as to its whereabouts. Tracking traced, informed that device scheduled to reach warehouse the next day as undeliverable/incomplete address.:scare: "Ok, will you please send out another?" Sorry, no can do. "System won't allow it as you have extinguished your maximum of three on that line. :scare: What?

Since perhaps 9/4/09, the line and device have stood dormant while this debaucle transpired. Still no device. Sprint's advice to me - Pay $100 and use your TEP. Call Asurion, "we don't cover software issues." Call Sprint back, Acct. Services Manager calls Asurion on my behalf and we conference. Only way I'm doing this is if Sprint offsets the $100. Acct. Services Rep checks acct. status, states the deductible can be charged to the acct. and upon Supervisor approval will be offset on bill. Asurion and myself, placed on extended hold. Approximately 15 minutes later, "[t]hank you for calling Sprint. may I have your first and last name please?" What? disconnected while on hold I presume. Release Asurion Rep and start all over again. Let mereview the notes. Nada. No notation corresponding to what just transpired, merely that I called re device issues.

Ok, I need some suggestions here.:1zhelp:

Hello I have had my touch pro for a little over 6 months now. i got it because i had issues with my diamond that i had replaced three times. well now that i have the touch pro ive had so many issues with this phone im going crazy. the keyboard stops working after a while i have to constantly do hard resets to make it work. I take it in to the sprint store and they say that they cant fix it so they replace it. well now its the fourth time ive taken it in because of the same issue again and they say that they can fix it and if im going to get it replaced they want to do it with either the htc snap, the blackberry curves or the tour. well needless to say i told them no to any of those phones becuase i think that would be a downgrade from the touch pro since they arent touch screens or similar to it. Im not wanting them to upgrade my phone to any other phone but I just want my same phone but one that works. they said they couldnt. well i called customer service and well needless to say tech support states that since ive gotten it replaced 4 times already that the only one that can help is the sprint store since i have had to many replacements already. so they told me either i change phones to the other ones or i stay with the broken phone. even account services is saying that they cant change policy and that the only other thing i can do is buy a new phone but with no discounts other then my 75 discount that i am eligible for. so thats my story what else do you think i can do? any suggestions I have TEP as well but i dont want to pay 100 to get my phone as well.
