The third and last (but definitely not least) rumored S4 spin-off is the so-called Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The existence of this device was first hinted by Samsung’s Young Soo Kim during the SGS4 launch event held in Dubai.

Ever since, the Active has continued to resurface on the web in the form of rumors and leaks, bolstering the idea that it is indeed a real device. Evidently, the Active hasn’t been officially confirmed and until the Korean manufacturer announces it, anything can change.

Nevertheless, the handset has already been spotted on the official Bluetooth SIG website, and if the Active turns out to be real, here’s what you can expect:

First things first, in theory, this gadget will be based on the original Samsung Galaxy S4 model, which means that most of the hardware features found in the S4 will also be found in the SGS4 Active. These include a 5 inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 600 or an Exynos 5 Octa processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 13 MP camera and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. But the one thing that would make the Active unique is that it will allegedly be a rugged smartphone, featuring both dust and water resistance.

Once again, according to sources, the SGS4 Active (model number GT-I9295) could become available for purchase during week 26 of the year.

All in all, judging by the volume of rumors that have been making the rounds, Samsung has big plans for this year, encompassing pretty much every imaginable niche.

As always, don’t hesitate to share your opinions in the comments. Would you be interested in one of these smartphones?

SAN FRANCISCO -- Engineers on the Google Android team say they are still working hard to ensure that Android updates are rolled out to new devices in a timely fashion.
During a fireside chat at the Google I/O developer conference here Thursday, 11 members of the Android development team fielded questions from the audience of developers. Android team members acknowledged the continuing issue of fragmentation within the Android ecosystem. But they also said they planned to continue a rapid pace of innovation.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-575...ion/?ttag=gpwc

I like that it goes on to say that "Android is just a baby"...
I`d really like to see what is coming with these innovative minds!
Especially with the cameras as the article says..

Samsung's Galaxy S4 is on pace to easily surpass its predecessor's sales record, Samsung Electronics co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun said Thursday in an interview.
Speaking to the Korea Times, the co-CEO said that Samsung's Galaxy S4 will sell through 10 million units next week, making it the fastest-selling smartphone in the company's history. Shin told the Korea Times that the Galaxy S3 took 50 days to pass the 10 million sales mark. The Galaxy S4 will hit that level less than a month since its launch.
The Galaxy S4 is the most feature-packed smartphone Samsung has launched yet. It comes with a 5-inch display, a 13-megapixel camera, and 4G LTE service, along with a host of innovative software features. In her review of the Galaxy S4, CNET's Jessica Dolcourt gave the phone 4.5 stars out of a possible five, saying that the handset "is the top choice for anyone looking for a big-screen, do-everything smartphone."

Heat is a problem that many electronics are forced to deal with, to one extent or another. Push enough power through chips, and they’re going to get hot: the trick is what you then do with that excess heat. Many devices use a combination of fans and vents in order to deliver cooler ambient air to chips, but those solutions don’t exactly translate well over to smartphones. Instead, we’re largely forced to put up with phones that can get quite hot to the touch when running at full throttle. NEC might just have a workable solution to that problem, upon news arriving of its plans to release the first smartphone with a liquid cooling system.

http://pocketnow.com/2013/05/17/liqu...edium=facebook

Bring it !
I hope it works!

Some friends and I have Photon Qs for travel in Europe and Latin America. Plan to turn off data roaming. Understand text and voice are packaged and inseparable.

Most concerned with incoming spam texts. I'm told that as soon as a text leaves the tower connected to my phone, I'm charged. Do not want to pay one cent for spam texts as a matter of principle, so what are my options?
Turn off the phone?
Will using the sprint website to enable texts only from specified numbers work while roaming? I am interested in texts from my traveling companions, my hosts and maybe some people I meet along the way, so should be able to set up filters in advance with a bit of tweak when on WiFi IF this would work.

Anyone have experience with international roaming to offer some advice?

Many thanks!

The guy new of SERO but was clueless about the SERO-P referencing another plan. After persisting that I did indeed know it existed and new of people on it he asked how I learned of it and then spoke with a manager a couple times he finally came back and agreed. But he kept calling it the EPRP which I thought was different. I held off on the new phone and transferring as I wanted to check here first. Did some searching but not hitting the key words right.
Are they in fact the same, or different? I don't want to mess up my SERO so I want to be clear when I call back and press for SERO-P if need be.

Depending on which device you have, and which version of Android, this process differs; we therefore can't provide a simple recommendation.
Once you have root, you will need to install our APK, run the application, click Install, and grant Superuser access to Substrate when prompted.
